Join Us for The 21st Annual Inspire Positive Aging Awards Luncheon

On May 28, Sound Generations is proud to celebrate the 21st Annual Inspire Positive Aging Awards Luncheon, a flagship event dedicated to honoring the incredible contributions of older adults across Western Washington. As the leader in aging services, Sound Generations has worked for nearly 60 years to combat hunger and isolation, and improve the quality of life, for our aging
neighbors.

The Inspire Positive Aging Awards were created to uplift and celebrate the diverse stories, contributions, and accomplishments of older adults, stories that often go untold. Sound Generations has been providing an afternoon of connection, celebration, and stories that challenge negative misconceptions about aging for over two decades. Nominations were open to all Western Washington residents aged 60 and over. Since its inception, the event has received between 25 and 55 nominations each year. We had a record breaking year with over 60 nominations in 2025, and we received submissions from as far away as Port Angeles.

This year, we are focusing on how older adults flourish in new chapters of life. Just like the lotus, the wisdom and the experiences of older adults have been forming deep roots—and we’re providing them with a space to bloom. The heart of the ceremony is celebrating the nominees, many of whom are nominated by friends and family. Often, nominees answer the phone with shock when they find out they were nominated. Past honorees have included cultural leaders, dedicated volunteers, activists, and artists who continue to create despite adversity. Events like this are needed now more than ever. Though the festivities are joyous, the true spirit of the awards is the shared time between older adults in our lives and the people who love them. Join us in honoring the beauty of lives that have blossomed over time.

“This event underscores our commitment to fostering a community where older adults are included while they help us redefine the aging journey,” said Brittany Blue, chief marketing and philanthropy officer at Sound Generations. Don’t miss this opportunity to appreciate this year’s garden of wisdom and inspiration, hosted by KOMO news anchor Tyrah Majors. We welcome you to connect and share in an event that challenges the perception of aging while celebrating the enduring contributions of older generations.
