“Sweet Dreams” Word Scramble
March 6 – 13 is National Sleep Awareness Week.
In January, the American Heart Association cautioned that fragmented sleep raises the risk of stroke and cognitive impairment. A few weeks later, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that a full third of American adults fail to get enough sleep, raising their risk of obesity and heart disease. Researchers from the Oregon Health and Science University recently explained that sleep is the time when the brain cleanses itself of harmful toxins. And experts from Brigham and Women’s Hospital showed that memories are transferred from short-term to long-term as we slumber. This is just a small sampling of recent studies that continue to provide us with a greater understanding of the role sleep plays in good health and optimal aging.
Take a coffee break (but not too close to bedtime!) and give your brain a workout with this month’s puzzle, which contains the scrambled names of some factors that can make a difference in the quality and quantity of our sleep.
