Her Superpower is Building Community

What if aging didn’t mean slowing down, but leveling up?

Amy Lee Derenthal, Executive Director of The Center for Active Living, explored this topic as a recent guest on the local SUPERPOWER podcast.

Derenthal talks about how dropping the word “senior” from The Center’s name opened new doors and why social services and volunteerism are crucial to healthy communities. The episode offers practical ways to support active aging in your own life and community.

The Center for Active Living is a vibrant social gathering place for its community where people can find friendship, healthy activities, and meaningful engagement as they age. It is located in the heart of the West Seattle Junction and serves the greater Westside peninsula. The Center is a place for daytime and evening activities, not a residential living facility. It changed its name from the Senior Center of West Seattle in 2024. Learn more at https://wscenter.org/
