Introducing Maude’s Awards for Innovation in Dementia Care

Maudes Awards banner

Maude’s Awards is a new program dedicated to enriching the quality of life for persons living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and their care partners, by celebrating and inspiring innovative practices of care and sharing these practices with the wider dementia care community.

Maude’s Awards was created in 2019 by Richard Ferry in honor of his beloved wife of 63 years. Maude was diagnosed with dementia in 2015. Now, as a loving care partner and tireless advocate, Richard and Maude continue their journey together by discovering and sharing innovations that speak to the challenges and needs of persons living with dementia and their care partners.

Maudes Awards bannerMaude’s Awards is a program of the Richard and Maude Ferry Foundation. Eight monetary awards will be made each year—three $25,000 awards to organizations and five $5,000 awards to individuals—for innovations that have demonstrated success in one of four categories of care: Making Connections, Treating By Design, Cultivating Health and Supporting Care Partners. Individuals do not have to be dementia care professionals to qualify. The Maude’s Awards program is interested in discovering ways that family caregivers and persons with dementia are making life better for themselves and others in their situation.

Please note:  These are awards for existing programs, products, or practices as opposed to grants for the future. Applications become available on March 3, 2020. The application deadline is May 15, 2020.
